I have updated the last four days worth of statistics – they make pretty decent reading for myself after winners for Teophilip (7/1), Holly Shiftwell (3,1), Well Refreshed (15/2) and Seymour Eric (5/1). It’s amazing what a few winners can do!
Irish has made a small profit over the past few days thanks in part to a good Friday. As previous Watson will be back in March to see if he can fare any better – could be an expensive month March what with Cheltenham about.
Irish has four selections for Tuesday, while I like one at Taunton.
A competitive card at Navan on Tuesday with 4 Grade 2 events taking place.I am going to focus only on the graded races for analyisis .(I thought It would be nice to cover some Irish racing for once)
1.35 (RED MILLS STEEPLECHASE) 4 runners go to post here in the 2M4 event. The favourite RUBI LIGHT will be very hard to beat if he runs anywhere near the same caliber when finishing second to Sizing Europe ,and his price of 8/15 reflects that. I think Foildubh will chase him home. Hidden cyclone was highly fancied on its last run put didnt produce and is becoming costly to follow. He will need to improve a lot to beat RUBI LIGHT in my opinion. So if all goes well RUBI LIGHT should be hard to beat here. (RUBI LIGHT @8/15) £5 WIN
2.05 (LADBROKES BOYNE HURDLE) Again we face another odds on favourite here in the shape of THOUSAND STARS a consistent hurdler. However with only 4 wins from 24 starts on Irish soil it is hard to put much confidence towards this runner at the odds. Therefore I am siding with UN BEAU MATIN. A faller on its last run when looking the winner he does have a bit to find on figure with Thousand Stars. But he looks a lot better than his current rating in my opinion and at 15/2 currently he is a fantastic each way bet. ( UN BEAU MATIN @15/2) £5 E/W
3.45 ( FLYING BOLT NOVICE CHASE) This 2m1F chase has 5 runners contesting and here I strongly fancy BUCKERS BRIDGE. This horse is now a bit of an unknown factor due to its last run but previous to that he was progressing very strongly beating some decent rivals and plenty of the form has been franked since. His last run he was practically pulled up when upped in trip but I feel that was to do with the mistake he made at the 3rd fence. He still has a festival entry and the drop back in trip and weight tomorrow are sure to help. I think at the price of 7/2 he is the horse to be with in this race. His rivals Dedigout (who has lost his way lately in my opinion) and TWIGLINE who has a lot of weight to contest with will do well to beat this rival.
(BUCKERS BRIDGE @7/2) – £5 WIN
4.20 (IRISH FORM BOOK TEN UP NOVICE CHASE (Grade 2) I Have no doubt this contest will be between the two market principals TOFINO BAY and TERMINAL. Tofino Bay beat a fancied festival contender last time out over 3 miles but at the age of ten that was a suprising performance. Currently 5/8 tomorrow I think he may struggle with TERMINALS pace and youth who was a ‘going away’ winner over 2miles 4 furlongs on his previous run showing that a step up to 3miles would strongly suit. I think this will be a closely fought contest but my preference is TERMINAL who I think we haven’t seen the best of (TERMINAL 2/1) BET 365 – £5 WIN
3.40 Taunton – Oscar Nominee £5 @ 4/1
