Alas the other tipster is me “Lonesome Pundit” himself as such this one may not end in profit like our other two advisers. Anyway I feel like having a crack to see if I have retained any punting ability.
When I see Mikael D’Hagunet priced up at odds-on anywhere the first impression is always to take him on. There’s no doubting he possesses ability but the animal also has a tendency to fall as he has on 3 of his 9 chase starts. For that alone he’s worth taking on – good luck if you take 4/11. Anyway the one I’m going with is Western Leader who won nicely last time out over CD albeit in a race which doesn’t look that great. He was pretty useful over hurdles, second in group 1, so he does have some ability and he remains untapped potential.
2pt win – Western Leader @ 7/2
This race is much more competitive and looks somewhat complex in trying to solve. The favourite was pretty handy two years ago and was well fancied for a decent novice event at the Cheltenham Festival in 2011. However, much like Mikael he’s one I want to oppose as he’s not run for nearly two years and fitness has to be taken on trust, especially on this ground. The animal I’m going to chance my arm against him is Clouded Thoughts. I did mull over Ballyalia Man but his price has rather contracted. Anyway Clouded Thoughts represents the bang inform Venetia Williams stable and although he’s shown little since a decent handicap chase at Limerick I think at 11/1 he’s worth a stab. Hoping he improves whilst the stable is in form. We shall see …
1pt win – Clouded Thoughts @ 11/1
