Juveniles to strike

Wonderful days racing ahead on the flat today with the Emaar Middle Park and Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at headquarters the feature. In addition to those two races there are a further four group races at Newmarket. Further flat meetings take place at York and Wolverhampton, with three meetings over the sticks at Hexham, Chepstow and Fairyhouse.

Not going into too much detail but a few bets worth considering.

  • 2.35 Newmarket – 2pt win Bapak Chinta 11/2 @ William Hill

Top class juvenile colt who hasn’t been seen since winning the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. Previously on debut finished ahead of top class colt Frederick Engels and although the break is a concern it could also be a blessing as main rivals Family One and Casper Netscher have run six and eight times already this season. Bapak Chinta’s potential remains unknown and considering he was 9/2 second favourite for the Nunthorpe before being withdrawn I’d consider him favourite for this event. Casper Netscher has done nothing but improve and is rated the biggest danger.

  • 3.10 Newmarket – 1pt win Most Improved @ 8/1 Bet 365

Hoping this horse lives up to its name. A number of these look exposed to me and although Power is a credible favorite he could well fall behind a couple of improving horses not least the Hannon trained Bronterre who has won a maiden and conditions race with ease. Most Improved has only won an average looking maiden on the July Course but trainer Brian Meehan has hit a decent vein of form, the sire Lawman has started extremely well with an 18% strike rate and this juvenile can confirm his promise in an above average renewal.

In addition to those two, backing a couple of others at York.

  • 3.25 Desert Gazelle @ 7/1 Paddy Power
  • 4.05 Son Of The Cat @ 11/1 Boylesports

Good luck.
