Okay to go along with the three already posted.

3.35 Ascot – The favourite Firebeam has been upped a stone for winning a Class 3 event at York. He did win well and the second has since won albeit narrowly. The current price of 13/8 really looks far too short even if he is progressive up so much weight and in class he is worth opposing. The one I’m taking against him is Desert Law who remains on a mark of 97 having run well last time out in a good Newmarket handicap, prior to that he was well beaten in the Bond Tyres sent off favourite however. Before that he was a close 2nd off 91 in another good Class 2 handicap. So really with the favourite up in class and a massive hike in the weights I’m more than happy to take the 9/2 about the consistent Desert Law.

  • 2pt win Desert Law @ 9/2 Various

Also a little pointer for today regards trainers in form or not so as the case may be. Richard Fahey has sent out 80 runners in the past 14 days, of which only one has won! Since June 1st the trainer 364 runners and only 29 have won. I like Fahey but these are truly shocking statistics and the stable has to be under some kind of cloud – especially when plenty of them have been backed and sent off reasonable prices. He sends out 13 today and although none look to have favourites chances it’s worth bearing in mind if you’re considering lumping on.
