Yesterday in a nutshell was poor. I won’t reflect too long but the longshots ended up strung up with the washing and most of my selections were disappointing not least Mister Angry who was backed into 7/2 from 9/1 and then ran abysmally yet again, I’m certain this horse has ability but he seems to have a problem putting it all. He’ll pop up somewhere so still one to keep an eye, no doubt he’ll continue to make people including myself angry in the meantime. I’ve not got much time to reflect on the action at Newmarket as things are somewhat hectic – long story! One bet for tomorrow below and the system bets which found a winner yesterday and had a 9/1 second, still made a loss mind!
After the abysmal fare at the start of the week we have 41 races today and 17 of them are class 3 or better. Not one Class 6 race today – thing is how do you find the time to look at all 41.
2.35 York – This is a decent looking Group 3 with a number of speedsters in the mix. The top rated is Swiss Diva but she would prefer soft ground with a much worse record on ground with good/good to firm in the description, the trainers record at the track likewise is abysmal. Puff is next in the market and although relatively unexposed at the trip, she’s up a couple of classes following a 4 runner win where she was able to dictate matters she won’t be able to do that today with a few prominent runners involved not least Rose Blossom. The Fahey horse has an excellent record at the track but to my uneducated eye she’s put in a couple of stinkers this term and having progressed from handicaps last year she may have been found out. The one I want to be with is William Haggas’s runner Dever Dream, this filly should appreciate the step back to 6f having run twice this season over further and last time out in a Group 2 at Ascot, that trip looks too far and with a record of 4/6 over this distance I think she’ll bounce back to last year’s form. Anne Of Kiev continues to progress and is a big danger but I’d rather take the bigger odds about Dever Dream whose stable is in fantastic form and I expect this filly to bounce back to form.
