Posting this now as I plan on having one or two ales tonight and with no flat racing in England tomorrow there won’t be any system bets nor personal bets. What can you say about the Derby aside from well the best horse won in Pour Moi – didn’t rate the French form how foolish of me, he was superb and for all those moaning about Carlton House well Pour Moi had to come from behind him. Not sure Barzalona’s celebration would have gone down too well if he’d mucked it up but as it goes it was terrific stuff from the best young jockey around who is making big strides. As for my own bets on the race – Seville ran no sort of race and seemed not to stay which I find hard to believe, don’t think he got the greatest ride mind, Recital looked one paced. Mica Mika ensured the personal bets weren’t a total washout finishing second yet again at 12/1 although the system bets haven’t done too well so far today.
2.08 Chantilly – Must admit I’ve not spent a long time looking at this and this is purely a speculative bet, in some ways a risky one but what the hell. Roderic O’Connor looks pretty short to me considering okay he’s won the Irish Guineas but that wasn’t much of a race wouldn’t be wanting to take him at 4/1. Baraan beat Pour Moi and Prairie Star which looks good form now – having seen Pour Moi win today and the latter a few weeks back in the Hoquart. The one I’m chancing though is the Italian raider Crackerjack King. This horse won the Derby Italiano four weeks ago, the third Danedream has since hacked up in the Italian Oaks franking the form. He’s yet to be beaten in 4 races, trainer reckons he’s improved and out of the same sire as last year’s winner Lope De Vega. Think 12/1 looks quite big about him, may well be bigger on the French PMU tomorrow daytime. The French Guineas winner Tin Horse shouldn’t be underestimated neither but then again plenty fall into that bracket, does look a better race than today’s Derby.

See you Monday!
